Sinopsis: Alex Fletcher (Hugh Grant) es una estrella de pop acabada de los años 80, se ha visto relegado a trabajar en el circuito de la nostalgia, en ferias de pueblo y parques de atracciones. El carismático y talentoso músico tiene la oportunidad de volver a escena cuando la gran diva Cora Corman le invita componer y grabar un dúo con ella, pero hay un problema, Alex no ha escrito ninguna canción desde hace años; jamás ha escrito letras, y tiene tan solo unos días para escribir una canción de éxito. Aparece Sophie Fisher (Drew Barrymore), una mujer seductora y excéntrica que se ocupa de las plantas de Alex y que posee un don de la palabra que llama la atención del compositor. Sophie está de vuelta de una relación que acabó mal, y por tanto tiene reparos a la hora de colaborar con nadie, especialmente con Alex, una persona que tiene pánico a los compromisos. A medida que la química entre ambos se empiece a notar, cuando están juntos al piano o debajo de él, Alex y Sophie tendrán que enfrentarse a sus miedos, y a la música, si quieren encontrar el amor y el éxito que ambos se merecen.
Mi opinión: Como termino viendo este tipo de películas (comedias románticas rosa pálido)? Esta vez, la situación es así: llegada al centro comercial a las 5:10pm y a esa hora están presentado «Letra y Música», para cualquier otra película la espera sería de mínimo hora y media, decisión: Entremos a verla porque no queremos esperar tanto tiempo. La película es divertida a ratos (por lo menos me reí algunas veces), comienza con un video de un grupo llamado PoP al más puro estilo ochentero y bastante cómico para esta época, y sigue con la historia de Alex Fletcher, el olvidado y ex integrante del grupo PoP. El resto de la película tiene la típica historia romántica y rosa donde el hombre conoce a la mujer; se enamoran; se enojan; se reconcilian; muy predecibles y poco original. Me gusto la forma como se ridiculiza un poco a las estrellas pop actuales que alegan cierta espiritualidad mientras bailan provocativamente y con poca ropa en sus videos y hacen a sus fans gritar de emoción, a lo Britney Spears. Algunos diálogos entre los dos personajes principales son interesantes pero tal vez no lo suficiente como para recomendar la película a alguien. No niego que a alguien muy romántico y a quien no le importen las historias predecibles y sin mucho argumento le pueda gustar, pero yo no me arriesgaría a recomendarla.
